EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Branch County’s unemployment rate dropped in November to four percent according to data released on Tuesday by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget.
The report showed Branch County had the 21st lowest unemployment rate among Michigan’s 83 counties after the jobless rate the previous month stood at four-point-three percent.
Not seasonally adjusted jobless rates moved down in 14 of Michigan’s 17 major labor market areas between October and November. Wayne Rourke, who is the associate director of the Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives says, “Employment rose in most regional labor markets in November however, seasonal employment reductions occurred in the Northeast and Northwest Lower Michigan regions and the Upper Peninsula.”
As for November unemployment rates in neighboring counties, St. Joseph County was at four percent, Hillsdale County stood at four-point-three percent while Calhoun County was at five-point-four percent.
Michigan’s unemployment rate in November was five-point-nine percent.
Unemployment rates ranged from two-point-five percent in Livingston County to nine percent in Mackinac County.
