Phyllis Marie Crampton, 81, of Bronson passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 at the Laurels of Coldwater.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Dan Hyman officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson from 4:00-7:00 p.m. with Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m.
Phyllis was born January 16, 1940 to Carl and Edwina (Herman) Smoker in Bronson. Shortly after graduation from Bronson High School she married the love of her life, Ron Crampton on October 17, 1959. Together they created many memories.
Phyllis was a hardworking woman, spending 24+ years as a rural mail carrier for the post office. She also worked at the library, as a reporter, and dabbled in real estate.
Phyllis was a woman of strong faith as a longtime member of St. Mary’s, where she also volunteered at the school in the lunch room. She was the Secretary of the School Board for many years. Phyllis was the family matriarch, using her strong personality to guide her family in many positive ways. She always put her family’s needs above her own.
Phyllis will be remembered for her loving and caring spirit, being affectionately known as “Bushie” to all her grand and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Crampton is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ron Crampton of Bronson; her daughters Paula Crabill of Bronson, Kari (George) Draper of Bluffton, IN, and Amy (Jim) VanVorst of Bronson; her grandchildren Austin Crabill, Abby (Shawn) McAlpine, Yale Crabill, Joel (Rachel) Draper, Neil (Leslie) Draper, Roni (Chad) Elliott, Brennen (Brandi) VanVorst, and Lauren (Dakota) Smith; her great grandchildren Aubrey, Kenton, Jace, Zoe, Mylin, Sullivan, Olson, Imigen, Lennon, and Huron; and several loving nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Jerry, Marvin, and Harry Smoker; and her son-in-law Clark Crabill.
Memorials may be directed to the St. Mary’s School or the Branch County Humane Society.
