Per Andrew Gustav Johnson, 84, of Coldwater, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
A graveside service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at West Girard Cemetery with Pastor Pat Baughman officiating.
Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Per was born November 5, 1937 in Branch County, MI to Gustav & Agnes (Higley) Johnson. He graduated from Union City High School and served in the US Army and National Guard.
June 30, 1962 he married Rose Marie Herman at St. Charles Catholic Church in Coldwater.
Mr. Johnson was a tool & die maker and worked for Midwest Foundry from 1956 until it’s closing in 1990. He then worked for Tenneco Automotive from 1991-2001. Per was a Master Gardener, attaining his designation in 2004.
Per is survived by his wife Rose Marie; his children Christopher Johnson of Union City, Mark (Arlene) Johnson of Bronson, Ellen Sue Johnson (Jim Phair) of Tekonsha, Todd (Patty) Johnson of Litchfiled; his grandchildren Irissa Johnson of Union City, Ashley (Ross) Winston of East Leroy, Shalimar Schlade of Jackson, Kayla Johnson of Grand Rapids, and Tye Johnson of Union City; step grandchildren Sarah (Ryan) Raymond of Grand Rapids, Courtney (Kevin) Van Hagen of Grand Rapids, Jessica Phair of Coldwater and Jamie (Brady) Miller of Auburn, IN; 12 great grandchildren; and his brothers James Johnson of IN, Warren Johnson of MD.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters Ann (Cleverly) Schultz and Mary May Bristow.
