COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The COVID chaos at hospitals around the State of Michigan continues. State health officials say the number of hospitalized adults with confirmed COVID-19 cases in Michigan has gone back up to record levels.
According to the latest statistics from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, there were 4,197 hospitalizations as of Monday compared to 3,839 hospitalizations on December 28.
There were a then-record 4,185 hospitalizations in late November.
Statistics also show 81 percent of available hospital beds in the state are occupied as of Monday compared to 78 percent a week ago.
According to the latest statistics posted by the state, ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital had 15 COVID-19 patients on Monday with two of them in the intensive care unit. The hospital is reported to be at 100 percent capacity.
ProMedica’s hospital in Monroe was also at 100 percent capacity with 28 COVID-19 patients and seven in I.C.U. while ProMedica’s CV Hickman Hospital in Adrian was at 81 percent capacity with 20 COVID-19 patients and four in intensive care.
As for area hospitals, Hillsdale Hospital was down to 44 percent capacity while capacity at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall was down to 48 percent.
Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo and Bronson Battle Creek were both at a capacity of 95 percent.
