COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The COVID-19 pandemic and baby boomers deciding to retire are having an impact on Branch County government job openings.
Branch County Administrator Bud Norman indicated during the Board of Commissioners work session on Thursday that their situation mirrors what’s going on around the country right now when it comes to filling open positions.
During a power point presentation, he went over statistics between 2019 and 2021.
Graphs showed the number of county employees who left their jobs in 2021 dropped when compared to the previous year.
On another matter, there has been a delay in the process for the county employee reclassification requests that have been submitted because of a number of illnesses. Norman indicated the requests could have an impact on this year’s budget.
There will a summary review after the interviews are done followed by a meeting of the reclassification committee and a presentation to the Board of Commissioners.
