COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals busted open a tight game in the fourth period on Friday night as they defeated the Marshall Red Hawks 43-24 in an Interstate 8 girls basketball game at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium.
Anna DeMeester paced a balanced attack for the Cardinals with 10 points. She hit a buzzer beating shot from the left wing to give Coldwater a 24-22 lead going into the final quarter and opened the fourth with a make from the same spot. Marshall answered with a bucket of their own before the Cardinals scored the final 17 points of the game.
Coldwater dominated the fourth period as they outscored Red Hawks 19-2.
Mallory Wilbur added eight points and five assists. Jaelah Sloan had seven points while Brooklyn Kerry added six points, seven rebounds and three blocks.
Seven Cardinals got into the score book on Friday night.
Coldwater improves to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the Interstate 8 and will travel to Parma on Tuesday to take on the undefeated and Class A sixth ranked Panthers.
Marshall won both of the underclassmen games by scores of 56-5 in the JV contest and 52-14 in the freshmen contest.
