BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Icy driving conditions on back roads in the area led to some school closings in Branch County on Monday.
Officials in the Union City and Tekonsha Community School Districts both decided to shut down for the day due to the slippery driving conditions.
Other districts closed on Monday included Athens, Jonesville and Homer. Pansophia Academy in Coldwater also closed.
The Coldwater, Bronson and Quincy school districts all initially decided to go with a two hour delay for Monday morning.
The icy conditions were caused after wet surfaces left behind by a mixed bag of precipitation on Saturday night and early Sunday morning froze as temperatures fell from the mid 30 into the teens throughout the day on Sunday.
