COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved an ordinance on Monday which amends the city’s building code inspection and enforcement fee schedule.
The ordinance was introduced by the Council in November.
With the retirement of Ken Fickle as a full-time employee, the City of Coldwater now has third-party contractors for building and related inspections.
City Assessor Debra C. Sikorski-Bernath says in light of their professional service agreement with K & P Inspections, the current fee schedule does not recoup the costs of the building inspections.
She says the proposed changes to the building permitting fees would more closely match the fees charged by the independent contractor for these inspections.
