(LaGRANGE COUNTY, IN)- A Sturgis man died Saturday night in a crash on the Indiana Toll Road in LaGrange County. The Indiana State Police Toll Road Post say the crash happened at about 8:30pm.
Troopers found a 2014 Buick Enclave passenger vehicle with heavy damage on the shoulder of the westbound lanes. They then found 67-year-old Daniel T. Olson in a side ditch. LaGrange County EMS Personnel arrived on scene to assist, however, life saving measures were unsuccessful. Olson was pronounced dead at the scene by the LaGrange County Coroner.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Olson had initially been traveling east when for an unknown reason his car hit the outside guardrail, then crossed through the grass median and stuck the inside guardrail of the west bound lanes. The Buick crossed the west bound lanes, crashed into the outside westbound guardrail, rolled over and came to rest on the westbound shoulder. Olson was the sole occupant. He was unrestrained, and as a result, ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
The LaGrange County Coroner’s office has scheduled an autopsy to be performed.
