COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Apex Clean Energy has scheduled a public open house and informational meeting for the Coldwater Solar Project which they say will provide residents, neighboring property owners, and other stakeholders an opportunity to review the proposed project layout and site plan.
The event has been scheduled to take place next Thursday evening, January 27, from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Lockwood Community Church at 202 East Lockwood Road
Representatives will be on hand to discuss the project and answer questions.
Backers claim that if its built, Coldwater Solar is expected to generate up to $21 million in new tax revenue for Coldwater and Ovid Townships as well as for county services and local school districts including Coldwater Community Schools.
They also say the project will create hundreds of new clean energy jobs during construction and several permanent positions for ongoing operations of the facility.
But some Ovid Township residents are opposed to the large solar project. Among their concerns are potential impacts on agricultural land and property values.
