COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Sheriff John Pollack told County Commissioners during their work session on Thursday that his department is looking to use a marketing firm to assist in advertising for new employees.
A committee was formed to look into the matter late last year.
County Administrator Bud Norman thought it was a good idea for the committee to meet again.
Pollack says the staffing is down 30 percent in Corrections with another two percent off on COVID-19 quarantine and other illnesses.
That leaves the department with 10 officers to cover around the clock.
The Sheriff’s Department had 565 hours of overtime during the month of December.
Pollack told Commissioners he is in the process of getting a marketing quote. Once gets the information, he will bring a formal request to Commissioners.
