COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man who was found by the Michigan State Police last July to be in possession of sexually explicit materials involving children was ordered to serve five years of probation and register as a sex offender with the State of Michigan on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
35-year-old Robert Sloan was sentenced after he admitted his guilt to two counts of being in possession of child sexually abusive material.
In exchange for his pleas, prosecutors dismissed four counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive materials as well as a charge of using a computer to commit a crime.
According to Branch County court documents, a State Police investigator obtained a search warrant for Sloan’s residence which allowed him to seize electronic devices.
The report stated about 250 sexually explicit photographs involving young children were found on the computer, phone, and hard drive.
Documents also state that Sloan told investigators he downloaded the images and that he had been doing it for years.
