Larry Richard Johnson, 77, of Coldwater passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Promedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
A funeral service will take place at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Shayne Looper of Lockwood Community Church and Pastor Joshua Kuck officiating. Interment will follow at Lockwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 28, 2022 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. For those who cannot attend in person, the funeral will be webcast on Larry’s Dutcher Funeral Home webpage starting at 1:45 pm Saturday.
Larry was born November 14, 1944 to Richard and Benita (Winget) Johnson in Rockford, IL. He was a U.S. Army veteran who earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin – Platteville in Engineering Drafting. He used his degree in the modular housing market for many years doing architectural drawings with several companies before retiring in June of 2008. On August 2, 1969 he married the love of his life, Nola Mailand in Rockford, IL at the First Presbyterian Church. Together they have made many memories.
Larry was an avid U of M sports fan. He also enjoyed attending tractor & model train shows, and playing both cribbage & cards. In his earlier years of marriage he bowled in leagues. Larry liked to take trips to the family cabins in Northwest Wisconsin, spending time outdoors and enjoying the peace and quiet of the north. Larry’s true joy in life was spending time with his family, especially when his grandchildren were involved. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Larry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nola Johnson of Coldwater; his children Eric (Sarah) Johnson of Coldwater, Andrea (Joshua) Kuck of Chelsea, MI, and Megan (John) Lyons of Denmark, WI; his sister Karel (Janus) Berger of Poplar Grove, IL; his brother Roy (Linda) Johnson of Mineral Wells, TX; his grandchildren Sophia & Ezekiel Johnson, Ellie, Kendall, Baylee, & Adaline Kuck, and Beatrice Lyons; and several nieces, nephews & cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
