BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers had five wrestlers win individual championships on Saturday as they captured the team title at the 22-team Battle Creek Central Bill Evans/Jeff McGinnis Invitational Tournament. Bronson had one champion and finished fourth. Coldwater finished 16th.
The five champions from Union City were Logan Mears (103), Landyn Crance (125), Garrett Iobe (160), Garrett Halder (189) and Grady Iobe (215). Seven other Chargers went to the podium. Brayton Mears was the runner-up at 140. Mason Hawthorne was third at 112. Alex Boyer was fourth at 135. Colton Russell was fourth at 145. Maddox Miller was sixth at 152. Aidan Taylor was seventh at 130 and Hunter Gillies was eighth at 285.
Bronson had eight go to the podium led by Perry Lake who won the 119 pound championship. Aiden Fill was second at 103, Jacob Dixon was second at 189, Matt Blankenship was third at 215, Owen Kimmons was eighth at 112, Logan Long was eighth place at 125, Aricin Smith was fifth at 152 and Jacob Britten was sixth at 171.
Five from Christopher made podium trips. Christopher Mobley was fourth at 215, Tre Miller was fifth at 119, Kevin Hall was fifth at 215, Yayah Umari was 8th at 103 and Ahmed Umari was 8th at 135.
