BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The National Weather Service has lifted the Winter Storm Warning for Michigan but it remains in effect in most of Indiana and for all of Ohio.
Steuben County remains under a Winter Storm Warning until 7:00 p.m. Thursday night.
Because of the weather and bad driving conditions, Steuben County Commissioners have placed the county under a “Red” travel restriction which means travel may be restricted to emergency management workers only. During a “Red” advisory, individuals are directed to refrain from all travel.
As much as eight to ten inches of snow fell on Wednesday. About a dozen property damage crashes and slide offs were reported in Branch County because of the heavy snow and slick roads but there were no serious personal injury crashes.
Thursday’s forecast in Branch County is calling for another inch of snow along with northeast winds gusting up to 30 miles an hour which will cause blowing and drifting snow. Wind chills will be as low as zero.
Conditions are expected to be worse in Indiana where moderate to heavy snow will redevelop with blowing and drifting snow.
