COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Sheriff John Pollack told County Commissioners during their work session on Thursday that he is talking with a local marketing firm to assist in advertising for new Sheriff’s Department employees.
He says they are offering two plans.
Pollack says they are now in a jail designed to operate safely with a Corrections staff of 20 employees.
Right now, there are 12 positions working as three Corrections employees are out with COVID-19, one is sick, one is on limited duty and one is in training.
Pollack says they have tried on their own to fill openings by posting in professional media, social media and local media sources.
He says one has been hired while two others are interested. Currently, there are no new applications.
The Sheriff’s Department has had to deal with staff shortages in recent months as the new jail opened up. They recorded 565 hours of overtime during the month of December.
