COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater BPU Board of Directors approved a five year renewal of a lease on Wednesday night with Brian Sexton of Sexton Farms to farm two parcels of CBPU owned land.
Sexton would pay $155 per acre per year to farm the Zebolsky farm across from Clemens Food Group on Newton Road and the Norma-Lenon Geishert farm on North Willowbrook Road.
The lease would last through 2026. The lease agreement is scheduled to be introduced by the Coldwater City Council during their meeting on February 14.
In other business, the board approved a recommendation to have Donohue and Associates complete a preliminary design report for the next two phases of the Water Resource Recovery Facility’s capital improvement plan at a cost not to exceed $146,650.
Interim assistant utility director Brian Musselman said this would speed up the process.
CBPU Director Jeff Budd says the first phase has already started with the primary clarifier improvements. He went on to say that based on their planning approach, the money spent up front will pay dividends when making the larger millions of dollar investment into the WRRF expansion.
