Betty Lou McVicker, 90, of Quincy, passed away, Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at home surrounded by loving family. She was born on August 7, 1931, in St. Johns to Clinton and Thelma (Sanders) Purvis. On September 23, 1947, Betty married Zell McVicker Sr. and he preceded her in death in 2009.
Betty was employed at LA Darlings in Coldwater and was also the Union President. She graduated from Coldwater High School. Betty had a cabin in the U.P. where she loved spending time, she enjoyed fishing and cooking what she caught. There was nobody that could cook a fish like her. She had a love for flowers and her flower beds in Florida would speak for that. Betty also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty is survived by three daughters, Ruth Ann (Harry) Cotton of De Tour, MI, Louise (James) Hall Sr. of Jacksonville, FL, Joyce (Jack) Mueller of Coldwater; two sons, Zell McVicker Jr. of Quincy, Michael (Phyllis) McVicker of Quincy; four sisters, Nancy, Ruthann, Catherine, Barbara; two brothers, Tom and Gail Purvis; 17 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Zell Sr., Betty was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Gloria Schultz; two sisters, Mary, Viola; two brothers, Rodney, Clinton and one grandchild, Keith Stollings.
Funeral services for Betty Lou McVicker will be held, Monday, February7, 2022, at 3 PM at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy with Reverend Don Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy. Visitation will be held from 11 AM until the time of service.
