COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County 911 Director Bob Swick told the county’s Communications Board on Wednesday they still have a shorthanded staff of dispatchers.
He said a couple of trainees dropped out including one who contracted COVID-19.
But Swick said two other candidates were still in training.
But he was optimistic about eventually getting to a full staff of 11 dispatchers.
The Branch County 911 manpower situation got so bad in the past couple of years that some dispatchers were forced to work 18 hour shifts.
The 911 dispatcher job position is posted on the county’s web site, www.countyofbranch.com.
It states new hires start at $16.13 an hour which increases to $20.51 with first step increase at six months of employment.
