COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Early Bird Exchange Club this week put together ten dozen bags stuffed with food, candy, personal hygiene items, and Valentine cards for veterans and seniors in Branch County.
The yearly project is made possible by donations from Club members and several local and area businesses as well as grant monies from the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence.
Each recipient got two bags which were filled on Wednesday and delivered from the Shelterhouse in Coldwater.
The Tom Sweitzer family funded all 120 of the paper and plastic bags.
Sweitzer, who also belongs to Early Bird Exchange, as does Bob Fox, each donated 30 canned hams.
The hand-made Valentines came from third grade students of teacher Deb Evans at Coldwater’s Jefferson Elementary School.
The bags went to the Burnside Senior Center, the Branch County Veterans Affairs Office, the American Legion in Union City and ProMedica Home Health Care and Hospice in Coldwater.
