BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence is trying to raise $694,000 so that the Branch County Child Advocacy Center can be relocated from Quincy to the Naomi Davis Shelter House grounds.
Coalition Director Kim Hemker is going to various government units in the county. Presentations include the showing of a ten minute video which explains the kind of services provided by a child advocacy center.
The advocacy center offers child-focused and friendly services. Trained professionals help with decisions about investigating, treating and prosecuting child abuse cases.
Hemker told the Coldwater City Council they hope American Rescue Plan funds can be donated by various local governments.
She said they have already gotten a pledge from a local service club for nearly half of the amount needed.
A fundraising drive is scheduled to start May 4. Hemker hopes they will be able to break ground in about a year.
