UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Officials with the Village of Union City say they have gotten numerous reports from Union City Electric customers about calls from scammers.
The callers claim they are from their electric company and that they were promising a refund or that the person answering the phone owes money. These calls often come from a Union City 741 number.
Whether you’re a Union City Electric customer, or a customer of another utility, it is strongly encouraged that you to not give information to an unsolicited call claiming to be your utility provider.
Hang up and contact your electric company directly if there are questions.
Your electric company will never ask for account or banking information over the phone and you should never provide that information in that manner.
Beware of an unsolicited call promising you money and asking for your information.
If you have any questions, call the Village office at (517) 741-8591, or your electric company if that is another company directly.
