BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – It’s been a tough season for the Quincy Orioles but they managed to defeat Springport 39-34 on Friday night in a Big 8 Conference boys basketball games.
The Orioles hit all six of their foul shots in the fourth quarter to edge the Spartans in a close, hard fought game.
Sam Sawyer led the Orioles with 18 points while Ashtyn Morris had eight points, 10 rebounds and two blocked shots. Tre’Von Bodley also grabbed nine rebounds.
The Orioles are now 4-12 overall and 2-9 in the Big Eight.
In other Big 8 boys basketball games, the Bronson Vikings won their third straight game as they defeated Homer 70-58. The Vikings improved to 8-9 overall and 5-6 in the Big Eight Conference.
Reading used a fast start to defeat Union City 77-49. The Rangers got off to a fast start as they built leads of 20-8 after the first quarter and 40-23 at halftime. Kyle Johnson led the Chargers with 16 points. Union City drops to 8-8 overall and 5-6 in the Big 8 Conference.
Concord leads the Big 8 Conference at 9-2. Their lead over Reading and Jonesville shrank to one game on Friday after the Yellow Jackets lost at Jonesville 52-43.
