Robert “Bob” Martin Barr, 71 of Bronson passed away unexpectedly at his home Thursday, February 17, 2022.
In following his wishes, cremation has taken place and the family will have a celebration of his life at a later date. A private burial will take place at Matteson Cemetery.
The family was cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Robert was born June 8, 1950 to Robert L. and Phyllis (Fitch) Barr in Niles, MI. He was a 1968 Bronson High School graduate. Bob was a hardworking man, spending many years working in plastics and 25 plus years as a grinder in manufacturing, grinding lifters for Comp Cam in Bronson.
In 1989 Bob met the love of his life Karon, After 26 years together, they married, on July 25, 2015 and would be celebrating 33 years together this year. Together they enjoyed going to their cabin in Irons, MI, visiting their daughter and son-in-law, and visiting the famous Dublin Store Bob (Bear, as he was often referred as) enjoyed many sports.
He was an avid pool player and bowler and has been on several leagues over the years. He was currently on a pool league in Bronson at the Bar (Former Long Branch Saloon) that he and his wife owned for 11 years. He also enjoyed golfing and playing darts, watching the Lions lose and attending drag races with his son and grandkids.
He was a big fan of wrestling and watching his grandsons’ meets when he could. In retirement he has enjoyed working with wood and was especially proud of his handmade wood American flags.
Bob is survived by his wife and companion of 33 years, Karon Fisher-Barr of Bronson; his children that he loved dearly, Tonya (Todd) Berghorst of Irons, and Eric (Dawn) Barr of Muskegon; his step-daughter Jennifer (Steve) Byler of Bronson; his siblings Larry (LouAnne) Barr of Coldwater and Bill (Debra) Barr of Sturgis; his 8 grandchildren and one great grandchild with one more on the way; as well as nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Karon wishes to thank the EMT’s and the Bronson Fire for everything they did and tried to do and appreciate all of them for their dedicated service to the community.
