SPRINGPORT, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers swept Tuesday’s Big 8 Conference jamboree hosted by Springport as both teams continue to lead the season standings.
The Chargers won the boys meet with 23 points followed by Concord with 67 points, Quincy in third with 90 points and Bronson in fourth with 93 points.
Union City’s Ben Gautsche won in a time of 16:41.47. His teammates Cohen Burdick and Jason Shoop were third and fourth respectively while Malachi Payne was sixth and Noah June was ninth.
Quincy’s Chayse Jensen finished fifth as he ran a new PR with a time of 17:51.02.; Carter Feltner finished 13th; Hunter Walker finished 24th; Coy Wood finished 25th with a new PR.
Bronson was led by Adam Franks who finished eighth with a time of 18:13.91. Tyler Wilber was 17th, Carter Sikorski was 21st and Brayton Cosby was 23rd.
Union City won the girls meet with 44 points. Bronson was second with 67 points. Quincy finished in third place with 71 points.
Bronson’s Ava Hathaway won in a time of 18:59.10 while her teammate Ashlynn Harris was second. Alonna Goodsell was seventh for the Vikings and Lydia Wells was 17th.
Skyler Fraley led the Chargers with a third place finish in a time of 19:59.79. Allison Gautsche was fourth, Alissa Skirka was eighth, Parker Williams was 13th and Elizabeth Arlt was 16th.
Charlotte Crabbs led Quincy as she finished sixth with a new PR time of 21:17.34. Lainey Yearling finished 10th; Kendyl Musielewicz finished 12th; Elizabeth Craig finished 19th..running a new PR and Kaylyn Brenner finished 26th… running her Season’s Best Time.
