ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School gymnastics team closed out their regular season competition on Monday night with a dual meet against Angola High School in Indiana. The home team claimed the win for the annual “Battle of the Border” by a margin of 98.225-108.55. The Indiana scoring only requires three gymnasts per event, rather than the four scores that are used in Michigan scoring. The Cardinals finished the regular season with a record of 6–2 overall and 6-1 in their conference. ”It is a fun meet to finish the season each year,” explained Coach Kim Nichols. “Many of our gymnasts have trained club gymnastics with many of the Angola girls, as well as under their coaches. We are all rooting for each other at this meet.”

Calhoun collected 8.1 points for her routine and finished in fourth. Freshman Kiraly Schoenauer picked up 8.05 points for Coldwater to earn the fifth place finish.
For the all-around competition, Avery Boyce posted her personal best performance at 33.0 points to tie for fourth. Angola’s Ashtyn Evans won the all-around competition on her senior night.
