COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A public hearing on an updated Branch County Master Plan has been scheduled for the Branch County Board of Commissioners work session on March 17.
County Administrator Bud Norman said during last Thursday’s work session the public hearing was the last step of all of the requirements needed to be met before Commissioners take a final vote during the March 22 regular meeting.
The Branch County Planning Commission along with the Southcentral Michigan Planning Council worked on the plan for nearly two years.
The Board of Commissioners voted last September to distribute the plan which had not been updated since 1993.
It was updated thanks in part to the controversy in recent years of proposed wind turbines in the northwestern part of the county. It was also felt an updated Master Plan would benefit development and help communities with grant funding.
Funding for updating the Master Plan was approved by the Board of Commissioners in December of 2019.
