COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It’s a sign that spring is not that far away. Rising and falling temperatures and the impact on roads mean that yearly weight restrictions on roads in Branch County will be enforced starting next week.
The Branch County Road Commission says enforcement will start at 6:00 a.m. this Tuesday morning, March 1, 2022.
The extended forecast indicates temperatures will be near 40 Sunday through Thursday.
The Road Commission says normal legal loads should be reduced by 35 percent on paved roads and 25 percent on concrete roads for all non-exempt vehicles.
Tickets will be issued for all violators.
For nine feet or more of spacing between the axles, the maximum axle loading is 11,700 pounds. For less than nine feet but more than 3 feet., 6 inches, it’s 8,450 pounds.
The Road Commission says a list of the “ALL SEASON ROADS” will be furnished upon request.
