KALAMAZOO, MI (WTVB) – It was a tough end to the season for the Bronson Vikings at the Michigan High School Athletic Association Team Wrestling Finals in the Wings Event Center as they missed the Division Four state championship match by one point.
The New Lothrop Hornets defeated the Vikings 31-30 in the Saturday morning semi finals.
Bronson had a 30-24 lead with two matches to go. But the Hornets got a decision for three points in the 189 pound match and New Lothrop’s Grayson Orr won on a 9-1 major decision in the final match at 215 pounds which gave the Hornets four points and the victory.
There were four lead changes between the two teams during the state semifinal match.
The Bronson wins cams from Aiden Fill (103), Owen Kimmons (112), Perry Lake (125), Drew Seekman (140), Carson Norton (152), Aricin Smith (160) and Jacob Britten (171). Bronson finished with a record of 33-7.
Hudson defeated New Lothrop 47-13 in the Division Four state championship match.
