SHERMAN TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A traffic stop in St. Joseph County on Friday night led to the booking of a 40-year-old Sturgis man on 39 felony counts.
St. Joseph County Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says deputies with his department conducted a traffic stop in the 64000 block of Balk Road in Sherman Township for an equipment violation.
The driver was found to have been operating the vehicle with no license.
Through a further investigation, deputies were able to locate fictitious state identification cards from three different states.
They also discovered tools that were used for counterfeiting bills as well as blank business checks and several counterfeit checks.
The suspect is awaiting a District Court arraignment in the St. Joseph County Jail.
