BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – As had been feared in recent days, gas prices at several Branch County service station have gone above $4 a gallon.
The web site gasbuddy.com reports some area stations are still selling gas for under $4 with prices as low as $3.89.
But prices are generally around $4.09 although there is one station in the Reading area where gas has skyrocketed to $4.39.
Before Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, gas around the Coldwater area was selling for as low as $3.29.
There’s no relief in sight for all of this pain at the pump.
CNBC reports crude oil prices continued to surge overnight topping out at over $130 a barrel which was the highest price for that commodity in 13 years.
Triple-A Michigan says the average price for gas in the State of Michigan went up 42 cents a gallon in the past week to three-dollars-97-cents.
The record high average price for gas in Michigan is four-dollars-11-cents a gallon which was set back in July 2008.
