COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Two women from the community are honored every year during the Branch County United Way’s Power of the Purse event for their service and community involvement.
The honorees this year are Trisha Mayer of Tasteful Kreations who was selected as the Woman of the Year in Business and Judy Cumming who was the Woman of the Year in Service.
They were presented their awards during the Power of the Purse lunch last Saturday at the Dearth Community Center.
This year’s Power of the Purse was a in person event which was also streamed live on the Power of the Purse’s Facebook page.
Organizers posted a survey last summer which asked respondents which date would you most likely attend in 2022 and if they wanted a sit down or drive through event. The date of March 5 was chosen by a nearly two-to-one margin while 57 percent preferred a sit down event rather than Power of the Purse being hybrid or drive through.
Digital tickets were sold for the first time and is was opened to members of the public to purchase tickets.
The money raised goes to the Branch County United Way’s Dolly Parton Imagination Library.
