WHITE LAKE, MI (WTVB) – Four members of the Coldwater High School girls gymnastics team will be competing on Saturday at the M.H.S.A.A. Individual Gymnastics Finals at Lakeland High School in White Lake.
The gymnasts are divided into two divisions based on their previous competition experience. Coldwater’s Layla Schoch, McKenna Hantz and Randi Dudek will compete in the Division 1 group while Charlotte Calhoun will perform at the Division 2 (D2) level.
Calhoun won a Regional Championship on the uneven bars last Saturday. The last time Coldwater had a Regional Champion in any event for gymnastics was in 2013 when Kylie Dudek claimed the Regional vault title.
The Coldwater Gymnastics team finished fifth last Saturday during the regional meet at Kenowa Hills.
“We had a pretty strong showing in the regional and I was pleased with how well the team performed overall,” commented Coach Kim Nichols. “It was a bittersweet and emotional day, though, realizing that for some of the seniors it was their final outing. We knew that we were the underdogs going into the meet (to make it as a team), but we still gave everyone a run for their money, so they had to work for it!”
