BUTLER TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A cooking fire that got out of control caused about $125,000 worth of a damage to a two story home in Butler Township late Friday morning.
Tekonsha Township Fire Chief Darryl Cummins says a woman was inside of the home at 922 Moore Road east of Quincy-Grange Rioad when the fire broke out at around 11:00 a.m..
She managed to get out of the house and call 9-1-1.
Litchfield, Homer and Quincy firefighters provided assistance to Tekonsha Township crews.
First reports from the scene indicated there was heavy smoke and fire showing from the structure.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department assisted with traffic control as Moore Road had to be shut down. Marshall Ambulance was also sent to the scene.
Cummins says most of the damage was contained to the kitchen and dining area of the home.
Firefighters were on the scene until about 2:00 p.m..
