BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson City Council approved a pair of proposals on Monday night as the City prepares to repair, improve, and paint the interior of the City’s water tower.
They approved a $14,750 proposal from Nelson Tank for engineering and oversight work on the project.
According to City Manager Brandon Mersman, Nelson Tank is projecting the actual work will be around $132,500 for repairs, safety improvements, and the repainting of the interior of the tower.
While the work is being performed, the tower will need to be offline for 30 to 40 days.
A temporary tank will be needed during this time to keep the water system pressurized.
After being presented with two options, the Council decided to use the Eastern Water Tower on Railroad Street at the former LA Darling site as a temporary tank.
Mersman said this tower would need to be inspected, at a cost of $2,800 from Nelson Tank.
Mersman added a tower inspection was contingent upon the conditions found while crews try to reconnect the tower.
