COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Law enforcement departments around Branch County will switch over to the new 800 megahertz emergency radio system on Monday morning.
Training for law enforcement personal took place last week as part of a three week process to switch police in the county over to the new system.
The switch over has been on schedule as earlier plans called for the new 800 megahertz emergency radio system to be fully functional by the end of March.
Branch County fire departments switched to the 800 system on February 14.
The new system is designed to improve signals and communications for police, firefighters and rescue crews.
Branch County voters approved a phone surcharge in November of 2020 to help fund the $9.3 million project.
