BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – With the change from winter to spring, it’s time to get ready for possible stormy weather during Severe Weather Awareness Week in the State of Michigan.
Severe weather and tornadoes have occurred every month of the year in Michigan so you should stay prepared year-round for the worst that nature can dish out.
Branch County Emergency Management Coordinator Tim Miner told County Commissioners last Thursday that residents can sign up for a Code Red Weather Warning account at the county’s web site which is www.countyofbranch.com.
Branch County has had more than its share of severe weather the last couple of years.
Severe storms that rumbled across Branch County last August caused significant damage and left thousands without power. Some Branch County residents were without power for almost a week.
Remnants from Tropical Storm Christobal led to some Branch County residents not having power for as long as six days in June of 2020. A large amount of damage was also reported in Bronson due to downed trees and power lines.
