CENTREVILLE, MI (WTVB) – A Bronson man was ordered to serve two to five years in the Michigan Department of Corrections on Monday following a fatal crash last October in St. Joseph County.
A St. Joseph County Circuit Court spokesperson said 41-year-old Ryan Krontz was sentenced by Judge Paul Stutesman after Krontz entered a guilty plea to a charge of attempted driving with a suspended license causing death.
Krontz was given credit for 30 days already served in jail.
The crash on October 13, 2021 on U.S. 12 near Carls Road took the life of 43-year-old Christopher Brent Van Doren of Sturgis.
Michigan State Police Troopers said at the time that Van Doren was driving a westbound 2003 Jeep Liberty on U.S. 12 when a 2001 Ford F-150 driven by Krontz crossed the center line and struck the Jeep head-on.
Van Doren was pronounced dead at the scene.
