SOMERSET TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Three persons were injured late Thursday night in a two vehicle head on crash on U.S. 127 near Harper Road in Hillsdale County.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police post in Jackson investigated the serious injury crash that took place at around 11:55 p.m..
They say a truck driven by a 30 year old from Angola, Indiana was traveling north on U.S. 127 and tried to pass a vehicle when it struck a passenger vehicle head on that was traveling south.
The southbound vehicle was occupied by a 20 year old and 26 year old, both from Cement City.
All three persons had to be extricated from their vehicles using the jaws of life and taken to Henry Ford Allegiance in Jackson for treatment.
Investigators say alcohol is believed to be a factor.
They report the at fault driver was treated and released from the hospital and lodged at the Hillsdale County Jail on drunk driving related charges.
The two occupants from the passenger vehicle remain hospitalized and are being treated for serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
The Michigan State Police were assisted by fire departments from Liberty Township, Addison, Somerset Township and Columbia Township.
