BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Gas prices in parts of Branch County have dropped well below the $4 mark after the Russian invasion of Ukraine just over a month ago led to record highs at the pump.
You may recall prices were as high as $4.24 in the Coldwater area in late February. But drivers are catching a break in recent as the price of crude oil was down to just over $100 a barrel on Thursday.
Crude prices skyrocketed to $131 a barrel when the invasion got underway.
The web site www.gasbuddy.com reports the price of gas at one station on the west side of Quincy was down to $3.74 on Thursday while prices in Reading and Jonesville were down to $3.79 a gallon.
Prices in Coldwater were between $3.99 and $4.04 a gallon on Thursday.
A station in Bronson had the highest price in Branch County at $4.15 while the price stood at $3.94 in Union City.
To the south in Indiana, gas prices around Steuben County were mostly ranging from $3.94 to $4.13 a gallon.
