COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners brought forward a request from Sheriff John Pollack during their work session on Friday to re-hire a recently retired Corrections Sergeant as a part time Corrections Officer.
Teresa Brewer would come in at the Tier 1 level with a four year STEP of just over $22.54 an hour without benefits.
County Administrator Bud Norman says Brewer had to wait 60 days after her retirement to come back to the Sheriff’s Department.
She would work between 20 and 32 hours a week with a maximum of 64 hours per pay period.
The hiring of Brewer, who began working at the Sheriff’s Department in April of 1998, would reduce the department’s overtime and no additional training would be needed.
It will also help fill a gap when new Sheriffs Department employees are pulled out of service and sent to the Corrections Academy.
Four employees will have to attend this year. They are being sent individually due to the shortness of staff.
Formal action by Commissioners is scheduled to take place on April 12.
