COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Questions have been raised recently about what you should do if you find discarded suspected drug paraphernalia or used hypodermic needles.
Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker said in his report during last week’s City Council meetings that citizens may call 911 to have an officer respond to their location to help identify items and make sure they are properly handled.
If the items are needed for a potential criminal prosecution, the officers will seize those items and keep them as evidence.
If it is determined the items have no value as evidence and can be safely disposed of, Coldwater Police officers will provide instructions on how best to dispose of the items.
