BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson School Board approved the addition of Maggie the Therapy Dog on Monday night.
Maggie is owned by Bronson Junior and Senior High School Counselor Haley Houtz and she would be available starting with the new school year in August.
Superintendent Steve Wilson says Maggie will be in each of the district’s buildings one day a week.
The Youth Advisory Committee and the Branch County Community Foundation awarded Bronson Community Schools a grant that will fund the therapy dog initiative through the end of the 2023-2024 school year.
Maggie is a pure Golden Retriever who previously worked at Pansophia Academy. Maggie’s specialties include cheering up students who are having a bad day, may be grieving or who are stressed out.
She is trained is Scott LaRoe who is the owner of Magnum K9.
