GULL LAKE, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals bounced back from a lopsided defeat in the opening game to get a split of their Tuesday afternoon doubleheader at Gull Lake.
The Blue Devils dominated the first game as they defeated the Cardinals 12-0 and held Coldwater to just two hits.
The second game was a different story as the Cardinals collected 16 hits and used a four run fifth inning to defeat the Blue Devils 10-7.
Cole Barker and Joe Closson both had three hits while Nate Tappenden and Logan Farmer both had two RBI’s in the nightcap.
Tappenden, Cole Barker and Farmer all had doubles.
Garett Johns struck out four and allowed one run in three innings of relief to get the win. Closson pitched the seventh inning to earn the save.
Coldwater is now 2-1. They will host Harper Creek for an Interstate 8 doubleheader on Thursday afternoon.
