COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Bronson area woman was arraigned Tuesday in Branch County District Court on a dangerous animal causing serious injury charge.
34-year-old Torrie Ann Hoard was arrested by the Branch County Sheriff’s Department following an alleged January 29 incident at a home on Prairie River Road in which a six-year-old girl was attacked by two boxer/pit bull dogs that were owned by Hoard.
The little girl’s older brother managed to save her and call Branch County 911.
According to Branch County court documents, the youngster suffered multiple puncture wounds. Doctors later found about 70 lacerations of differing severities. The girl was taken to Bronson Children’s Hospital for surgery to repair some of the wounds.
Hoard told Magistrate Valerie White during her arraignment on Tuesday that the two dogs were put down after being quarantined for ten days.
A not guilty plea was entered on Hoard’s behalf. A personal recognizance bond of $5,000 was set by White.
A probable cause hearing was scheduled for next Tuesday with a preliminary exam set for April 26.
