BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Strong winds with gusts over 50 miles an hour raised havoc for Branch County residents on Thursday and caused a handful of power outages.
The strongest wind gust measured at the Branch County Memorial Airport was 51 MPH at 4:35 p.m..
The airport had several wind gusts over 40 MPH earlier in afternoon.
Angola, Indiana recorded a wind gust of 53 MPH while a 55 MPH gust was recorded at Camden and a 51 MPH gust was recorded at Three Rivers.
The strongest wind gust were recorded in Elkhart County, Indiana where Goshen had a gust of 64 MPH. The South Bend International Airport had a 62 MPH gust.
Less than 100 Consumers Energy customers lost their power in Branch County while the strong winds knocked out power to over 23,000 customers system wide.
There were still over 3,500 customers in lower Michigan who were still without power on Friday morning
