COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Sheriff’s Office is inviting the public to do some spring cleaning of their unused medications and drop them off at the new jail for the annual Take Back Your Meds Day on Saturday, April 30, 2022.
These can be unused or expired prescription or over-the-counter medications. The medication drop box is located just inside the main doors at the Branch County Sheriff’s Office.
Branch County Undersheriff Keith Eichler says, “This day encourages the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes in order to prevent medication misuse. It’s a good opportunity to make sure medications stay out of the wrong hands and to lower the risk of someone abusing prescription medicine.”
This is a free service offered to the public and no appointment is needed.
When dropping off medications, black out all personal information on the prescription, drop the container into the box.
The Sheriff’s Department ask that no loose pills be dropped off.
Not accepted items for the drop box include needles, syringes, bloody infectious waste, liquid medications, thermometers, IV bags, personal care products, and hydrogen peroxide.
The new Branch County Jail is located at 379 Keith Wilhelm Drive, Coldwater.
