COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There will be two contested races for seats on the Branch County Board of Commissioners in 2022.
One will take place during the August Republican Primary as Rod Olney, Daniel Dickerson and Alan McClellan have all filed for the Fifth District seat which represents Algansee, California, Butler and Quincy Townships.
Olney is a former county commissioner and McClellan served on the Quincy Township Board for eight years and has been a current member of the Quincy Community Schools Board of Education for 14 years.
As of now, the only contested Commissioners race in the November general election will be between Republican incumbent Jon Houtz and Democratic challenger Chris Boger. The second district covers the second ward in the City of Coldwater as well as Coldwater Township and Girard Township.
Commissioners Randall Hazelbaker, Tim Stoll, and Tom Matthew are all running unopposed.
Hazelbaker represents the first district which covers the first, third and fourth wards in the City of Coldwater.
Stoll’s third district covers Batavia, Bethel, Matteson, Sherwood, and Union Townships.
Matthew’s fourth district covers the City of Bronson as well as the townships of Bronson, Gilead, Kinderhook, Ovid and Noble.
Two other Republican incumbents are running unopposed.
County Treasurer Steven Rutz along with Register of Deeds Nicole DeLoach are both seeking full four year terms.
