BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Voters will make decisions on four proposals during the August 2 Primary in Branch County.
Voters will be asked to renew an annual Branch District Library millage annually for the next eight years in an amount not to exceed .4983 mil. This would renew a previously authorized millage that expired in 2021.
If approved, it’s estimated the Branch District Library will collect about $800,000 in the first year of the levy.
Gilead Township voters will be asked to establish an annual special assessment to purchase fire protection equipment and for fire operations. The special assessments is not exceed 1.25 mils. A
special assessment of 1.25 mils would raise over $37,000.
Matteson Township voters will be asked to renew a millage for five years that would be used for fire protection and equipment. The renewal of eight-tenths of a mil will raise over $47,000 in the first year the millage is levied.
Noble Township will also be asked to renew a millage for fire protection and equipment. A half mill would be levied for five years with $11,300 being raised in the first year the millage is levied.
