COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Bronson man was formally charged with four counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct during an arraignment on Wednesday in Branch County District Court.
Following an investigation by the Bronson Police Department and the Michigan State Police which started last October, 75-year-old Leon Albert Verrill has been charged by Branch County Prosecutors with two counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second degree C.S.C..
According to Branch County court documents, the alleged crimes involving an under aged girl took place between 2015 when she was eight-years-old and last October.
Documents also state the alleged victim told investigators she had been assaulted “for years”.
Not guilty pleas were entered on behalf of the defendant and bond was set by Magistrate Val White at $200,000. Verrill was ordered not to have any contact with the alleged victim if bond is posted.
A probable cause hearing was scheduled for next Thursday, April 28 with a District Court preliminary exam set for May 3
